Jeff Gelder, owner of GelderHead Productions, distributed 1500 CD's to four hospitals in 2006; he hopes to exceed that number this year and plans to "play Santa" on December 19th at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

The tale on the CD is weaved by Jeffrey the Reindeer and Santa Claus as they make their way from the North Pole to visit the children of San Diego. Along the way they meet Jeffrey's cousin, Carlito, who lives at the Wild Animal Park. Last year we introduced Kate the feisty teenage reindeer from Milwaukee and in 2007 will go to New Orleans to meet Kate’s cousin Peeshwank the Porcupine. The talent this year is remarkable, and includes award winning author and actress Vanna Bonta (Beastmaster, Hocus Pocus, An American Tale: Fievel Goes West, Beauty and the Beast, Where Sleeping Dogs Lie), and Sam Bass of KyXy 96.5fm. Other performers who generously lent their talent to the CD are extraordinary vocalist and recording artist Danielle LoPresti, Janet Hammer’s Full Measure Carolers, Vocals Only, Dave Franco, singer, song writer Karl Anthony, and recording artists John Korbel, Johnny Douglas Jr., Ric Henry & Eileen Bowman, James Higgins, Ashley Fox Linton, Tricia & Austyn Meyers, Doug Turkel, Steve Hodson & Joanne Roshon, Jay Crawford, Helena Marie Woods, Erik Sheppard, Jay Crawford, Sasha La Russo, and Jeff Underwood.

Microsoft manager and writer Mark Patterson penned the script, and Santa Claus, Carlito, Kate, Peeshwank the Porcupine and Jeffrey the Reindeer are played by professional speaker Phillip Tanzilo, voice actors Greg Dehm, Heather Martinez, Connie Stewart and Gelder also of KyXy 96.5fm, respectively. The first CD was produced five years ago, when Gelder was tasked in a Landmark Education class to come up with a project that would enhance the community and ultimately take on a life of its own. That's just what has happened, as Gelder now fields many inquiries about the CD all year long. "This year we hope to once again have CD's for Children's Hospital's in Milwaukee, Albuquerque and Orange County in addition to San Diego and New Orleans and we've had requests from other hospitals around the country.

For every $2.00 donation a child will receive a CD of their own," says Gelder. "This is a labor of love that is received with much joy by children who are unfortunately spending the holiday season in the hospital and their siblings, who often crave attention due to so much being given to the ailing member of their family," Gelder said.
