Children’s Holiday Magic Project Announces New Board for 2016 Season
San Diego, California, October 6, 2017 – Children’s Holiday Magic Project, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, enters its 14th year of bringing the gift of songs and stories to children worldwide who are hospitalized during the holiday season with a fresh Board of Directors for 2016/2017.
“The fresh perspectives coming from incoming board member is exciting for this project, which continues to grow every year. We create an annual compilation CD of unique songs and stories that feature beloved characters and hand them out free-of-charge to children who are hospitalized during the Holiday season. We reached 71 cities worldwide last year and I’m confident with the team we have in place, combined with the talented artists and the on-going financial support of our sponsors and non-profit partners we will touch even greater numbers this season.” Jeff Gelder, President / Founder
Jeff Gelder – President / Founder: Jeff Gelder is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico where he began his on-air radio career, and has been a resident of San Diego since 1987. Jeff is an on and off camera professional and owner of GelderHead Audio Productions where he voices both local and national commercials, documentaries, e-learning and audio books regularly. In his spare time Jeff heads the non-profit that he founded called, Children’s Holiday Magic Project, Inc. The charity produces and delivers a new CD each year titled Holiday Magic, A Gift for Children of All Ages, to kids who must spend their holidays in Children’s Hospitals worldwide. Proudly, 2016 is the 14th edition of the CD project!
Adele Gibson – Secretary: Adele Gibson attended school at State University of New York at Buffalo – School of Management. She has raised a family and works as a loan officer at First California Funding in San Diego, CA. Adele and her husband Larry are long time supporters of Children’s Holiday Magic Project, Inc. It is our pleasure to welcome her talent and skills to the Board of Directors.
Jane E. Gilpin, CPA – Treasurer: Jane is a seasoned Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years of managerial experience in a variety of private and public sector organizations. That experience has provided her with broad expertise in the application of computerized accounting processes, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). After earning her CPA license, Jane worked for five years as an Auditor with a regional public accounting firm specializing in the nonprofit and healthcare industry. Upon leaving the public accounting world, she served as Accounting Manager and Controller for various organizations in the healthcare, service, insurance and real estate industries. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Jane earned her M.S. in Accounting from San Diego State University and B.A. in Business Administration from the University of San Diego. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, biking, jogging, swimming and reading.
Karl Bimshas – Director of Marketing: Boston-bred and California-chilled, Karl Bimshas is a leadership consultant executive coach and author. Since 2009, he has collaborated with individual entrepreneurs, executives and their companies to improve relationships and strengthen essential leadership skills with his Leadership Guidance System, accountability partnering, and customized development programs that grow employees and build effective teams. A writer of fiction and nonfiction, he has a line of business books that feature valuable advice on how to thrive in today’s workplace. In both his writing and his coaching, he looks to help others uncover their hidden potential. He earned an M.S. in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego, a B.A. in Mass Communications from Emerson College and has held several operational and sales management positions in public and private corporations.
William Kiesel – Director of Fundraising: Bill Kiesel was born in San Diego and holds a degree in Marketing from Arizona State University. Bill has worked as a singer/songwriter and photographer as the passions in his life and a Manufacturers Representative for companies such as Red Bull, Carnation food products, and Levolor blinds and shades. He is also a front of house Manager for the San Diego Symphony and a Group X instructor for 24 Hr. Fitness as a indoor cycle coach. Bill has been working with CHMP over the past seven years helping to raise funds, gathering silent auction items for An Evening of Holiday Magic CD Release Gala Fundraisers, and submitting songs and stories for the annual CDs.
Bret Gerber, MD – Board Member: As a pediatrician, Bret Gerber, MD, provides comprehensive primary care to children of all ages. Dr. Gerber believes that open, honest communication is essential to providing outstanding care and takes the time necessary to answer questions to the fullest. His goal is to form a trusted partnership with his patients and their parents and enjoys working as a team to address any concerns, including medical and behavioral issues. He also stresses preventive medicine and works to treat all levels of illness for total well-being.In his spare time he enjoys hiking, biking and the beach, as well as raising orchids. He is also interested in complementary medicine and spirituality.
Dave Fowlie, – Board Member: Dave Fowlie has spent the majority of his career in IT, working in the airline industry before 911, the telecommunications industry, and the scientific industry. In addition to working in IT, Dave is passionate about animals, and traveling the world. He currently still works in IT, and he is also the owner of a Cruise Planners American Express Travel Franchise, where he gets to live his passion every day. Not only does he create exciting vacations for his clients, but he also leads groups on amazing trips as well. Dave holds a BA from the University of Maryland, as well as a Diplôme de Langue et Civilisation Française from the Université de Paris – Sorbonne. Dave holds a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute and is a Certified Scrum Master. As a travel agent, Dave is an active member of NACTA (the National Association of Career Travel Agents), is a Master Cruise Counselor with the Cruise Lines International Association, and holds destination specialist certificates for Hawaii, Alaska, New Zealand, and Peru, as well as many other Cruise Line and River Cruise Line certifications.

The brainchild of voice actor, radio personality, and audio producer Jeff Gelder, the Children’s Holiday Magic Project has provided free compilation CDs of fun songs and stories to thousands of children who are hospital-bound over the holiday season worldwide since 2003. Utilizing the creative talents of a variety of actors and singer/songwriters, and the support of sponsors and non-profit partners, the reach for the project increases to include more hospitals and cities each year.
